Don Basset

Bio

Don Bassett had his life’s plan to be a technician.  Staying on task, he attended The Bermuda College and earned certification as electronics technician. Education in this field led him to a position in the telecommunication department of Holmes William and Purvey.

His Radio career was not as planned out. He was thrust from behind the camera to behind the mic.  Starting out at Capitol Broadcasting in the 1980s as a camera man, in TV control, he stumbled into radio when an on air personality’s miss-scheduling of a doctors appointment landed Don, live, behind the mic with just a few minutes notice.

Loving Radio, he wanted to further his career in this field. Don soon entered the Carolina School of Broadcasting earning certification in Radio Announcing, TV Production and Copy Writing.

Don has a smooth voice and is heard around Bermuda as the host of the Mid-Day Madness on “The Big Station” Power 95. In his show he plays a variety of music from hip hop to reggae.  He is also the man behind “Local Licks”, growing in popularity as a platform for Bermudians to be showcased.

Don is proud to say he was, “born, raised and remains a native of Southampton, Bermuda.”  In his down time you will find him relaxing with his first love….TV. Don has always been fascinated with TV.  He quotes, “I am a news kinda guy,” thus his favorite show at the moment is the fiery news show, “O’Reily Factor.”
